[CNMO Tech News] Recently, OpenAI launched a desktop application for macOS, introducing new interoperability features across various applications. This marks a significant step in ChatGPT’s evolution from a chatbot to an intelligent AI tool.
The newly released macOS desktop app allows users to easily manage and automate their ChatGPT workflows. With the “WorkwithApps” feature, users can now integrate ChatGPT into over 30 coding applications, including Apple Notes, Notion, Xcode, and more, significantly boosting productivity. Additionally, ChatGPT now supports data interaction with a wide range of coding programs and IDEs, such as Android Studio, AppCode, CLion, JetBrains IDEs, and multiple versions of VS Code.
What’s particularly notable is that ChatGPT’s interoperability extends beyond the coding domain. It now works seamlessly with traditional text-editing applications like Apple Notes, Notion, and Quip, handling tasks like text generation and editing. OpenAI has also integrated the Advanced Voice Mode (AVM) feature into the desktop app’s workflow, enabling users to launch AVM in a separate window for real-time responses and recommendations during their work.
As part of the “12 Days of OpenAI” countdown celebration, OpenAI demonstrated these enhancements in the desktop version of ChatGPT. The demo showcased how ChatGPT collaborates with different applications, extracts document content, generates relevant information, and even analyzes Git comments to present results in bar chart form. These features highlight ChatGPT’s ability to efficiently perform tasks and enable seamless collaboration in desktop environments.
